On the surface, it's about two male penguins who partnered, adopted an egg, hatched and raised a chick together. But in reality, it's about so much more!

Based on the life, works and writings of Ohio native and poet Hart Crane, this unique time-traveling dramatization of his life gives insight into his genius and the demons that were his ultimate destruction. Born in 1899 in Garrettsville, Ohio, Hart Crane is considered a pivotal figure in American literature, a Romantic in the age of High Modernism, who sought nothing less than the fullest expression of the American experience. On September 10, Evolution Theatre Company will bring to the stage the Columbus premiere of bare:A Pop Opera book by Jon Hartmere and Damon Intrabartolo, music by Damon Intrabartolo, lyrics by Jon Hartmere. Through its pulsating rock score and emotionally charged story, bare has thrilled and moved audiences around the world. A contemporary rock musical, bare follows a group of teens wrestling with issues of identity, sexuality, and religion at a co-ed Catholic boarding school. Provocative, raw, and unyielding in its exploration of how today's generation navigates the tightrope between adolescence and adulthood, bare examines the consequences of baring a soul-or hiding it from those who matter most.

Actors' Theatre of Columbus will close its 2012 summer season at the Columbus Commons with the production of Shakespeare's A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM. The production will run Thu/Fri/Sat/Sun for two weekends, September 13-16 and September 20-23, with performances starting at 7:30 PM. Performances are free, though donations of $5-10 are encouraged.
