DC Moore Gallery is pleased to announce its summer group exhibition, Woods, Lovely, Dark and Deep, curated by John Zinsser, on view from June 20 – August 15 with an opening reception on June 20 from 6 – 8 pm. This show juxtaposes historical and contemporary painters and photographers as a way of re-thinking “landscape” and its associated meanings. Zinsser began with an intuitive notion, looking at artists for whom this representational genre allows a revealing of hidden places or psychological foreboding. For many, illusion is played against literal reality, whether in terms of paint physicality or received photographic treatment of subject matter.

Guild Hall, the visual and performing arts center on eastern Long Island, recently honored the recipients of the 28th Academy of the Arts Lifetime Achievement Awards: John Alexander for Visual Arts; Walter Isaacson for Literary Arts; Nathan Lane for Performing Arts and Mickey Straus, who received the Special Award for Leadership and Philanthropy. Marshall Brickman was the Master of Ceremonies with special guest presenters: Ken Auletta, Alec Baldwin, Jack O'Brien and Lorne Michaels. Smith, and choreographer Paul Taylor. This years Midsummer Party Co-Chairs are Deborah F. Bancroft, Carlo Bronzini Vender, Etta Froio, Dorothy Lichtenstein, Michele Pesner, Douglas Polley, Frederic M. Seegal, Marcia Dunn Sobel, and Alexandra Stanton.

At this year's ARTrageous Gala, more than 500 supporters gathered at Cipriani Wall Street to raise funds and awareness for the over 16,000 foster children in New York City. The money raised from the ARTrageous event benefits Edwin Gould Services for Children and Families (EGSCF). For more than 85 years, this non-profit organization has been serving and protecting children residing in foster care in New York City. Over the past decade ARTrageous has been a huge success, raising more than $15 million. Today, EGSCF is one of the top Foster Care Agencies in New York City.
