Anita Durst, the founder of ChaShaMa, held a two-day celebration to honor theater streaming service BroadwayHD, Bonnie Comley & Stewart F. Lane, and Gary Rosenberg of Rosenberg & Estis, P.C.

Chita danced onto the stage at the Skirball Center to present the Chita Rivera Lifetime Achievement Award to her friend and collaborator, 96-year-old John Kander.

Billy Crystal, a Tony Award nominee for Best Actor in a Musical as Buddy Young Jr., joined Tony Winner Bette Midler on the stage to discuss what it was like to create, perform in and capture what Variety called “the funniest show on Broadway, in years.”

Urban Stages' Board of Directors and founding artistic director Frances Hill presented the 2017 Urban Stages' Lifetime Achievement Award to Oscar, Emmy and Tony Award-winning legendary set and costume designer Tony Walton.  The celebrated Broadway, TV and film star,  Melissa Errico, ("Billions", My Fair Lady, High Society, Encores' Do I Hear a Waltz?), presented the award to her mentor and close friend, Tony Waltonat the annual benefit at the Boathouse in Central Park. 

Just last night, the Jonathan Larson Grants, given annually to honor emerging composers, lyricists and book writers, were presented to the 2017 recipients: Ben Bonnema, Maggie-Kate Coleman & Erato A. Kremmyda, Ty Defoe & Tidtaya Sinutoke, and Michael R. Jackson. 

Opera Star Cristina Fontanelli performed her 13th Annual Christmas in Italy at the 1300 seat Landmark Theater in NYC on Sunday December 18th. The show is a vocal journey through Italy's best loved songs, arias, Neopolitan and Christmas classics.

Music Theatre International Chairman and CEO Freddie Gershon and his wife Myrna hosted eight outstanding educators from schools and performing arts centers around the country for four days of classes and activities honoring them for working to make a difference for their students and communities through the process of staging musical theatre productions in their schools and educational theatre groups.  The event known as the 6th Annual FREDDIE G FELLOWSHIP culminated in a gala dinner at Chez Josephine on July 11th.  Joining the festivities were Broadway greats Bernadette Peters and Brian d'Arcy James. The incisive images of celebrities, political figures, designers and society's elite filled the walls of the elegant gallery. Angela Lansbury received the 2014 Rolex Dance Award. James Earl Jones, Ms. Lansbury's Driving Miss Daisy co-star, presented her with the award. The 2014 Career Transition For Dancers Outstanding Contributions to the World of Dance Awards honorees went to Janice Galli Becker, Fe Saracino Fendi, and Joe Tremaine & Tremaine Dance Conventions & Competitions.
