Steep Theatre will make its much-anticipated return to production with the Midwest Premiere of Eboni Booth's Paris, opening June 18th.

Ms. Booth, a Drama Desk award-winning actor, made her Off-Broadway playwriting debut with the critically-acclaimed Paris at Atlantic Theatre Company in January of 2020.  Steep Ensemble Member Jonathan Berry, who has been at the helm of a slew of Steep hits over the years including Ike Holter's Red Rex and Simon Stephens' Birdland, directs.

Remy Bumppo Theatre Company has announced the cast for the second show of its 2019-2020 season, TOP GIRLS, playing January 16 - February 22, 2020 at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont Avenue in Chicago.

Steep Theatre is extending the run of Lucy Kirkwood's Mosquitoes through November 16, adding four more chances to catch this beautifully performed and powerful show. Inside the Large Hadron Collider, two high-energy particle beams travel at close to the speed of light before being forced to collide. Outside, two sisters run on an ideological collision course that threatens to upend the fragile gravity holding their family together. Lucy Kirkwood's Mosquitoes is an intergenerational look at the gulf between decisions and their consequences.

Steep Theatre begins its 19th season and opens its first production as an Equity theatre in October with the U.S. premiere of Olivier Award-winner Lucy Kirkwood's Mosquitoes, directed by Jaclynn Jutting. Kirkwood won the 2014 Olivier Award for Best New Play for her Chimerica, and her play The Children enjoyed a well-received run at Steppenwolf this past spring. This production will mark Steep's first venture with the playwright, as well as with director Jutting, a long-time friend of the company.

When Ollie's sister goes missing, her search leads her to Pomona a?" a bleak, concrete island in the middle of a scarred city. Part thriller, part fantastical puzzle, Alistair McDowall's Pomona twists and turns its way into the dark heart of a world built on pain and suffering and asks the question - is it even possible to be good anymore?

Steep Ensemble Member Robin Witt will close out the company's 18th season with Alistair McDowall's Pomona. McDowall was the playwright behind Steep's 2015 hit Brilliant Adventures, which marked his U.S debut and was also directed by Witt. His work has been produced extensively, including productions at the Royal Court, the National Theatre, and the Royal Exchange. McDowall is a Bruntwood Prize winner and recipient of the 2018 Pinter Commission from the Royal Court. Robin Witt is a longtime director at Steep whose work includes the 2018 hit Linda and Cordelia Lynn's Lela & Co, which won 2018 Jeff Awards for Director, Production, and Performer in a Principal Role.

Adventure Stage Chicago (ASC), a program of the Northwestern Settlement, presents its company premiere of Oliver Emanuel's adaptation of The Adventures of Robin Hood from October 19 to November 24, 2018 (press opening Oct. 20) at the Vittum Theater, 1012 N. Noble Street. Physical theater expert Adrian Danzig returns to ASC to direct, following his acclaimed 2011 ASC production of 500 Clown Trapped.

With the original run and four-week extension completely sold out, Steep Theatre Company is adding three more performances of Simon Stephens' Birdland on June 10, 14, and 15. With the ensemble's next production (Penelope Skinner's Linda directed by Robin Witt) right around the corner, June 15 will be the last chance to catch this runaway hit at Steep.

With the original run completely sold out, Steep Theatre Company is adding sixteen more performances of Simon Stephens' Birdland. Tickets for the extension will go on sale at 3:00pm on Monday, April 16, and they're expected to sell very quickly. Tickets will be available at steeptheatre.com/birdland.

Steep Theatre is thrilled to welcome several new members to its ensemble of artists. Nate Faust, Brandon Rivera, Amber Sallis, and Sasha Smith are the newest members of Steep's acting ensemble. Both Faust and Sallis appeared in last year's Earthquakes in London, and Sallis returns to Steep's stage next week in Simon Stephens' Birdland. Brandon Rivera debuted at Steep in Brilliant Adventures, and Sasha Smith appeared in Steep's Hookman and Hinter.

Jonathan Berry returns this spring to Steep to direct the U.S. premiere of Simon Stephens' Birdland. Stephens, who won the Tony and Olivier Awards for his The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, is Steep's Associate Playwright, and Birdland will be the fifth of his plays to be produced by the Edgewater ensemble. Steep Ensemble Member and Jeff Award-winning director Jonathan Berry recently directed Steppenwolf Theatre's You Got Older and The Crucible. Over the years, he has consistently produced some of Steep's most notable shows, including last year's sweeping epic Earthquakes in London and Laura Wade's Posh, which won the Non-Equity Jeff Award for Best Ensemble, and was nominated for Best Director and Best Production.

It's the biggest trial in Purgatory, and Judas is on the stand surrounded by a Fellini-esque cast of character witnesses, from Satan to Sigmund Freud. Is he merely fallen or beyond forgiveness? Steep Theatre will present the first professional U.S. production of Tony nominee and Olivier Award-winning playwright Mike Bartlett's Earthquakes in London, opening January 26, 2017. Steep's production opens on the heels of another Chicago production of this enormously exciting playwright's work, the critically-acclaimed King Charles III at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre. Earthquakes will be helmed by one of Chicago's most exciting talents, Steep Ensemble Member and Jeff Award-winning director Jonathan Berry.  Berry recently directed Steppenwolf Theatre's Constellations, and, over the years, has consistently produced some of Steep's most notable shows, including Season 15's Posh by Laura Wade, which won the Non-Equity Jeff Award for Best Ensemble, and was nominated for Best Director and Best Production. 

As global destruction approaches, the lives of a climate scientist and his three estranged daughters come crashing unexpectedly back together. The wildly epic Earthquakes in London embodies the chaos of today's society, and asks us what matters most when everything's falling apart.
