Troy Skinner Brings Burt Bacharach Show to Arthur Newman Theatre

Local singer, Troy Skinner performs his acclaimed one-man cabaret concert, "What The World Needs Now" on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at the Arthur Newman Theatre in Palm Desert. The show is a tribute to legendary composer Burt Bacharach, with piano accompaniment by musical director Christopher Marlowe. Tickets for the 2 PM show are $11 cash at the door, which opens at 1 PM.

Troy Skinner has lived in Palm Springs for 17 years and many locals know him as a former weather person for KMIR-TV 6, and his many performances in musicals and cabaret shows in Palm Springs, Los Angeles, and Santa Fe, New Mexico, and as a popular Spin Class Instructor at fitness facilities around the Desert. Hailing from Colorado, he began vocal training at the age of 15 and attended University of Northern Colorado to major in Classical Music only to discover his love of The Great American Songbook, where many Burt Bacharach songs have become Standards. A few include; Alfie, Anyone Who Had A Heart, A House In Not A Home, This Guys In Love With You, Close To You, and Do You Know The Way To San Jose. Some are featured in Hollywood Films and received awards including the Oscar for Rain Drops Keep Falling On My Head. Artists that recorded hits with Burt's songs including The Carpenters, and Dionne Warwick, whose name is almost synonymous with Bacharach's. Troy's Musical Director and accompanist for this show will be Christopher Marlowe, who has a lengthy history working with many top singers as well, and known for his creative musical arrangements.
