Lynn University's Conservatory of Music Concludes 2016-17 Season with 13 Musical Events

Jon Robertson, dean of Lynn University's Conservatory of Music and Philharmonia guest conductor, today invited the public to attend 13 musical performances during April and May 2017.

"Our talented students and extraordinary faculty look forward to sharing the beautiful world of music as we conclude our seventh season in the Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center, a world-class concert hall that enhances our performing artists' musical offerings," said Robertson. "We will present a variety of musical offerings designed to enrich the artistic spirit and nourish the soul."

This season's Conservatory of Music concerts are held in the Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center, the Amarnick-Goldstein Concert Hall and the new Snyder Sanctuary, all located on Lynn's Boca Raton campus.

April 1

Guest Bassoonist Martin Kuuskmann

Lisa Leonard, piano

Known for his charismatic and commanding performances, Kuuskmann has been called "the amazing bassoonist" by The New York Times. A graduate of Yale and the Manhattan School of Music, he regularly teaches at the Arosa Music Academy in Switzerland.

April 7

Penderecki String Quartet "Informance"

The eminent Canadian quartet presents an "Informance." Both entertaining and informative, the event features the quartet at work as they explore new music and demonstrate in-depth rehearsal techniques.

Master Classes with the Penderecki String Quartet in Concert

The members of the Penderecki String Quartet are recognized internationally for their teaching, coaching and master classes. Conservatory chamber music groups will be featured.

The Penderecki String Quartet in Concert

The quartet's recent appearances include performances at Carnegie Hall, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.

April 9

From the Studio of Eric Van der Veer Varner

From the studio of Eric Van der Veer Varner comes the Lynn Conservatory Bassoon Concert. Students and faculty collaborate on solo works, duos, trios and quartets, all featuring the sound of that most regal of instruments, the bassoon.

Violin Master Class with Elmar Oliveira

Internationally renowned performer Elmar Oliveira, Lynn's Distinguished Artist in Residence, is a devoted teacher and promoter of young violinists. He was the first violinist to receive the coveted Avery Fisher Prize and the first and only American violinist to win the Gold Medal at Moscow's prestigious Tchaikovsky International Competition.

Open to all Lynn string players, the John Oliveira String Competition is made possible by a gift from violinist Elmar Oliveira, brother and student of John Oliveira.
