Harper Lee's classic story comes to life in the Surfside Players' staging of To Kill A Mockingbird, opening this Friday at 8:00 p.m. In Depression-era Maycomb, Alabama in 1935, young Scout lives with her father, Atticus Finch, an attorney, and her older brother Jem. When Tom Robinson, a black man, is accused of raping a young white woman, Atticus is asked to represent him and accepts, knowing that his decision will likely cause him, and his family, serious problems with some townspeople.

This play, an adaptation of the classic novel by Harper Lee, contains adult themes and occasional profanity (mild by today's standards), but is recommended for older children and families for its educational value and cultural significance. Presented by special arrangement with THE DRAMATIC PUBLISHING COMPANY of Woodstock, Illinois.

Performances will be held Fridays/Saturdays 8:00pm, Sundays 2:00pm, February 28 - March 16. Tickets are $13 for students, $16 for seniors and active military, and $18 for adults. Opening Night is Buy One Get One Free. Purchase/reserve tickets at www.surfsideplayers.com or (321) 783-3127.
