Orlando Shakespeare Theater in Partnership with UCF is excited to announce its Summer Camp offerings beginning June 13, 2011 at the John and Rita Lowndes Shakespeare Center. Now accepting registrations, Orlando Shakes offers full-day and half-day options for grades pre-K through graduating high school seniors. Creative Arts camps include: Fairy Tales & Merry Music, Shakespeare Smackdown, and Lights, Camera, and ACTION! A complete Summer Camp listing can be found online at: http://www.orlandoshakes.org/education/classes/camps.html

Orlando Shakes is dedicated to creating innovative educational experiences that build critical life skills in each participant and encourage creativity, collaboration, problem solving, concentration, public speaking, and a strong work ethic. Professional acting instructors guide students in the exploration and appreciation of the arts, with social and academic skills integrated into the process.

Anne Hering, Director of Education, commented, "Our Creative Arts Camps focus on creative play, performing through dance and Shakespearean acting. Young students with theater experience develop great self-confidence, as well as the strong skills in communication and teamwork, that enhance applications for colleges, scholarships and future employers. It's never too early to begin building those essential life skills."

For emerging and advanced theater artists, The Young Company (TYC) is the perfect way for passionate young performers to have fun and stay busy this summer. TYC is a production program for high school students who wish to experience the power of working as a team in a theater ensemble. Strong friendships are formed and actors practice the values of cooperation, teamwork, and problem solving through the exploration of classical drama. Directed, designed, and produced by adult theater professionals, the intensive rehearsal process includes script analysis, character development, learning basic movement and staging, and strengthening the vocal instrument. The program culminates in a production of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, playing July 8-10, 2011 at the John and Rita Lowndes Shakespeare Center. The Young Company is sponsored by The English Speaking Union of Central Florida.
