Oklahoma Children's Theatre Announces Spring Classes Beginning 1/28

The Oklahoma Children's Theatre announced Spring production classes beginning January 28th.

Seasonal classes are a perfect way to allow children to explore their creativity and continue to fine tune their performing telents during the school year. With a variety of classes throughout the week, for children aged 4-12 years old, there is something for every age group and experience level. The classes offered are:

Young Company

This class meets on Saturdays from 01/28/2012 - 04/28/2012 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. It is for children from 8 years old to 14 years old. The class fee is $350.

Designed for children 8 and above, this program focuses on broadening a student’s understanding of theatre arts through educative, hands-on participation in the production process. Through a variety of intensive workshops, activities, and lessons this class will concentrate not only on advancing general acting skills, but introducing students to the varied aspects within the theatre, both on and off stage. Young Company members will perform “ Peter and The Wolf “ with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic on March 4th at the Civic Center Music Hall, and then “Cinderella Outgrows the Glass Slipper” at OCT’s annual fundraising event , Fairy tale Ball on April 14th.

Acceptance into Young Company is by audition only. Students must perform a memorized monologue or song, 1-2 minutes in length. Auditions are only open for students with previous camp or class experience with Oklahoma Children’s Theatre. Auditions will be held January 14th from 11am-12pm.

Theatre II Production

This class meets on Thursdays from 02/09/2012 - 04/19/2012 from 4:00pm - 6:00 pm. It is for children from 8 years old to 12 years old. The class fee is $250.

There is a role for everyone in the play presented. Through this program, students will learn theatre skills and techniques through hands-on participation in the production process. At the end of the class session Oklahoma Children’s Theatre will host a special performance at which family and friends are invited to see the children perform as the stars of the show!

The production that the students will perform in is The Jungle Book (There will be no class March 22nd) with the Final Performance on April 21st at 7pm.

Pre-School Creative Dramatics

The class meets on Thursdays from 02/09/2012 - 04/05/2012 from 4:00pm -5:00pm. It is for children from 3 years old to 4 years old. The class fee is $100.

These classes will highlight the basics of creative drama and creative movement. Children will learn to follow sequential directions, work together as a team, and use their imaginations to create characters as they play, move, pretend, invent, and create an original performance of The Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly. At the end of the class session Oklahoma Children’s Theatre will host a special performance at which family and friends are invited to see the children perform as the stars of the show! ( there will be no class March 22nd)

All participants must be potty trained in order to attend class. The production of The Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly will perform on April 5th at 5:00pm.

Theatre 1 Production

This class meets on Thursdays from 02/09/2012 - 04/19/2012 from 2:00pm- 4:00pm. It is for children from 5 years old to 7 years old. The class fee is $250.

The production is Two Pigs, A Wolf and a Mud Pie (There will be no class March 22nd.) with a Final Performance on April 21st at 7pm.
