Tender Thread Productions and WOW Café Theater will present previews of playwright/director Theresa Diamond's Ridiculous play WAITING FOR THE SHOW at WOW Café Theatre (59 E4th St.), an Obie-winning women's theater collective, in NYC's East Village on Thursday, January 8, 2009. The official opening will be on Saturday, January 17, 2009.

It's Beckett meets Marat-Sade in this erotic, edgy, experimental comedy. WAITING FOR THE SHOW's action begins during an afternoon rehearsal of a fire-breathing, snake handling, come-to-Jesus anti-abortion skit in the basement of a major research hospital. Two women, Nina and Anne, diligently rehearse their parts as Maria from "The Sound of Music" and Founding Father George Washington. But mysteriously, every day at the same time, the rehearsal is interrupted by Nina's trip to the Treatment Room. Mad scientists Dr. Freud and Dr. Nietzsche enter to observe "The Treatment" that Anne administers to Nina. On this day however, all hell breaks loose.

The cast features Angela Carolfi and Kristin Ciccone.

Diamond's stage plays have been presented in an assortment of NYC venues including the Neighborhood Playhouse (The A-Train Plays), Shetler Annex Studios, the WOW Café Theater (Rose Toibin), Nuyorican Poets Café, Dixon Place, (Waiting for the Show) The Club at La Mama (Relationship Jones), and Centered Margins at Chashama (The Bijoux Monologues). Terry's screenplay The Fighting Irish was the quarterfinalist in the 2007 Scriptapalooza Screenwriting Competition. Waiting for the Show was debuted in this past summer's Philly Fringe. She has reviewed for Show Business Weekly and just recently left a staff post at the Irish Repertory Theatre.

Angela Carolfi played "Nina" in the Philly Fringe 2008 production of Waiting for the Show. "Veronica," "Macy," and "Dana" in By the Sea... at Plays and Players Theatre. She was "Patricia" in Intrepid Theatre's production of Extremities at Walnut Street's Studio 5. She toured with George Street Playhouse as "Mom" in New Kid. She trained with Philadelphia's Curt Owens and is an alumna of Drew University.

Kristin Ciccone studied at the London Dramatic Academy and recently graduated from Drew University where she won the Wettslein Prize for her achievements in acting. Some of her favorite roles have included "Sebastienne" in The Tempest, "Joy" in Last Easter and "Little Sally" in Urinetown.

Lighting Design is by Juan Merchan, Sound Design is by David Burgess, Photography is by Bill Hayward and Graphic Design is by Bill Weber. Production stage manager is Cleo Vivas Rojas.
