Highly experienced performers and emerging new talents are invited to submit their solo pieces to United Solo, the world's largest solo theatre festival. From openly solicited submissions, the Festival will select local and international productions and will present them October 20 - November 20, 2011 at Theatre ROW on 42nd Street in New York City. The anticipated range of solo shows is vast and includes improv, storytelling, dance, puppetry, multimedia, stand-up, magic, tragedy, comedy, and other forms of solo performance.

Through its inaugural edition in the fall of 2010, the Festival gained a reputation for presenting many unique and diverse solo productions. Last year, the Festival presented forty-seven shows coming from three continents, six countries and seven states. Among its many productions, the Festival included three shows directed by Austin Pendleton, a solo piece directed by Obie Award winner Ching Valdes-Aran, as well as productions by Jelena Stupljanin (European actress and lead of "Cirkus Columbia" by Oscar-winning director Danis Tanovic) and Bill Bowers (NYU professor of pantomime who appeared on Broadway as Zazu in "The Lion King").

The goals for the 2011 United Solo Festival remain consistent with its previous edition: celebrating individuality, promoting quality solo performances, and supporting The Actors Fund, the organization that serves professionals in the performing arts who are in need or transition.

The deadline for submissions for the 2011 Festival is May 16th. Detailed information can be found at www.unitedsolo.org.
