The Theatre Project has announced the line-up of its 2015-16 season, which will include classics, contemporary, and experimental works at its downtown residency at the historic Players Theatre. Beginning in June, The Theatre Project's season celebrates the company's 5th Anniversary Off-Broadway and will feature six productions as well as musical performances and free public readings throughout the year.

Starting in June, The Theatre Project's Fifth Anniversary Season will feature 6 new productions beginning with The Taming of The Shrew (June 26 - July 12), written by William Shakespeare and adapted by The Theatre Project's repertory ensemble TP&co. The Taming of the Shrew is the first play highlighted in the company's well-received Shakespeare Off-Broadway series, and is directed by Artistic Director Christian Amato with musical direction by Eric Fletcher. The season will present The Two Gentlemen of Verona (September 10 - 26), As You Like It (February 5 - 27), and Double Falsehood (April 22 - May 14) as part of Shakespeare Off-Broadway.

Following the success of the company repertory ensemble, The Theatre Project will present a limited engagement revival of the Off-Broadway classic, The Mystery of Irma Vep (November 12 - 21) featuring TP&co founding company members Tyler Nye and Dominic Sellers in the comedic double-bill that sparked the downtown theatre movement. In addition, this fall, Shakespeare Off-Broadway will continue to bring The Bard to students in the tri-state area through a fully mobilized traveling unit to strengthen educational outreach and early exposure to classic theatre. The touring productions include a revival of the company's critically acclaimed Twelfth Night, as well as the upcoming season's productions of The Taming of The Shrew, The Two Gentlemen of Verona, and As You Like It.

In addition to the season TP&co and Shakespeare Off-Broadway are featured in, The Theatre Project is proud to announce a refocused effort on the development of New American Plays. After years of success in the promotion of new Off-Broadway theatre, the company has created INCUBATOR, a new annual program that will promote the growth of a new play which will be announced later this year. INCUBATOR will focus on one play yearly, and through a series of public readings and workshops, develop the production in preparation for a world premier in the fall of 2016. Starting in March 2016, The Theatre Project will commit to publicly developing the first new production in the INCUBATOR series.

All performances in the 2015-16 season take place at The Players Theatre, a 200-seat Off-Broadway venue located on Macdougal Street in the heart of Greenwich Village. Since its founding the historic Players Theatre has been a hub for the growth of the Off-Broadway theatre community.
