The New York Goofs return to The Flea Theater with their annual clown training program NY Goofs Ultimate School, running from August 4 - August 9.

Now celebrating its 12th year at The Flea, NY Goofs Ultimate School is the premiere professional training ground for aspiring clowns in the United States, filling the void of clown training when Ringing Brothers Clown College closed its doors. NY Goofs' Ultimate School continues the legacy of the ancient, somewhat mysterious, art form of clowning.

Lead by Dick Monday, former Director of the Ringling Brothers Clown College, 20 students come from across the US and the world for a six-day immersion in the art of clowning. Students learn about character and developing writing skills, circus skills, improvisation, makeup and movement from a faculty that features some of the top performers in clowning. Instructors include Dick Monday, Tom Dougherty, Jay Stewart, John Lepiarz, Barry Lubin, and Hovey Burgess.

The New York Goofs have trained all the clowns for the Greatest Show on Earth and are founders of Slappy's Puppet Playhouse in Dallas. Led by Dick Monday and Tiffany Riley, who have appeared as the clowning comedic duo Slappy & Monday from China to Mexico, Carnegie Hall to the Kennedy Center, and lots of circuses and festivals in between. As Director of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College, Dick traveled to 30 cities each year to help find and train clowns for producer Kenneth Feld. Their Ultimate School is the premiere professional clown-training program in the United States.
