Rainbow Valley, a musical adaptation of the seventh book in L. M. Montgomery's beloved 'Anne of Green Gables' series, will have a staged reading of Act One on May 19 at 6:30pm as part of Emerging Artists Theatre's 7th Annual New Works Series.

Composer Dimitri Landrain has been featured on the platinum album, "Entre Nous," by French Top 50 artist Liane Foly. He is the composer of Knots (with Felice Kuan), Mayday (with Jason Hart), The Most Wonderful Thing of All (with Chae-kyung Lee), and the Odyssey (with Matt Britten), which will be produced Off-Broadway in October. Bookwriter and lyricist Felice Kuan is an ASCAP Max Dreyfus Award winner who, in addition to Knots, has written book and lyrics for Epitaph (with Hyun-Suk Park) and Nine Tails (with Jingoo Lee). Both Landrain and Kuan are graduates of the NYU Musical Theatre Graduate Program.

Directed by David Alpert (White Noise, The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide..., Guys and Dolls), with Music Director Andrew Smithson, the cast will comprise Autumn Hurlbert (Legally Blonde, Little Women), Merrill Grant (My Shirley Years), Brian Bailey (Cats National Tour), Justin Goodemoot, Sara Benjamin, Nick Caruso, Katie Whetsell (Dear Edwina), Lisa Mindelle, Jessica Dillan (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Cats), Martin Landry (Dear Edwina), Cassandra Sandberg, Tiffany Dissette, Paul Luoma, Dan Lawler (With Glee), and Janice Mays Landry (Dear Edwina).

Rainbow Valley follows the four motherless children of absent-minded minister John Meredith: laid-back Jerry, spitfire Faith, curious Carl, and shy Una. Growing up in the stern and proper town of Glen St. Mary, Canada, they are surrounded by neighbors who disapprove of their bedraggled appearance and scandalous antics. Wanting to protect their father from criticism and gossip, they form a Good Conduct Club to teach themselves how to behave, but the results turn out differently than they plan.

The Equity-approved reading will take place at TADA! Theatre, 15 West 28th Street. Tickets are $10 and are available at the door.
