THE OTHER MOZART - the true, little known story of Mozart's prodigy sister - returns to NYC, at the Players Theatre. The little-known story of Mozart's talented sister is brought to life in THE OTHER MOZART, a dramatic play written by Sylvia Milo, directed by Isaac Byrne. Nannerl Mozart was a child musical prodigy, a keyboard virtuoso and composer, who performed throughout Europe with her brother to equal acclaim, but her work and her story faded away, lost to history. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the show below!

THE OTHER MOZART uses Nannerl's own letters, as well as those of her family, to investigate how this once celebrated artist faded from the world's stage. The play is set in and on a stunning 18-foot diameter dress (designed by Magdalena Dabrowska from the National Theater of Poland), created to fill and spill over the entire stage.

With the opulent beauty of the dress and hair design, the sweet smell of perfume, and the clouds of dusting powder rising from the stage, THE OTHER MOZART is a multi-sensual experience that transports the audience into a world of outsized beauty and delight -- but also of overwhelming restrictions and prejudice, where, finally this other Mozart tells her story.

Nathan Davis and Phyllis Chen (members of the International Contemporary Ensemble, currently in residence at the Mostly Mozart Festival at Lincoln Center) composed original music for the instruments Nannerl knew intimately, such as clavichords, music boxes, and bells, as well as teacups, fans, and other ordinary objects that might have captured her imagination.

THE OTHER MOZART was developed at the Piccolo Spoleto festival and at the Cherry Lane Theatre in NYC as part of their All for One Festival. It was presented at the Berkshire and New Orleans Fringe festivals, at the Toronto University, and in Munich at the Pasinger Fabrik.

THE OTHER MOZART begins performances on Saturday, March 7, for a limited engagement through Saturday, April 25, every Saturday at 7pm. The play is performed by Sylvia Milo (on March 14, March 21, April 4, April 11, April 18 and April 25), or by Sara Florence Fellini (on March 7 and March 28). Performances take place at the The Players Theatre's Steve and Marie Sgouros Theatre (115 MacDougal Street). The regular ticket price is $45. Premium tickets are $50 (include reserved seat, glass of wine and signed program). Student Rush tickets are $15, available at the door.
