The world premiere of Walter Anderson's play Almost Home, directed by Michael Parva and produced by The Directors Company, opens tonight, September 18, at the Acorn theatre on Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street). ALMOST HOME will play a limited engagement through October 12. Tickets are currently on sale at Telecharge.com.

In the turbulent sixties, a young Marine returns home to the Bronx, shaken but hopeful for the future. Met by a mother fighting to keep the family going and a father down on his luck, Johnny finds himself caught between his parents' dreams for his future and a police captain with plans of his own. Walter Anderson's compelling new drama about the wars fought at home asks: whose dreams must be sacrificed to protect the ones we love?

Walter Anderson makes his playwriting debut with Almost Home, having previously written five books and worked extensively as a literacy advocate. A former Marine sergeant and Vietnam veteran, Anderson went on to publish PARADE Magazine for over 30 years, serving as both Chairman-CEO and Editor-in-Chief. Artistic/Producing Director of The Directors Company Michael Parva has shepherded over 50 new works, including moving Irena's Vow from an extended Off-Broadway run to an Outer Critics Circle Award-nominated Broadway production.

Known for his roles in NBC's "Third Watch" and HBO's "The Sopranos," Joe Lisi appeared on Broadway in the original cast of the 2003 Tony Award winner for Best Play, Take Me Out. James McCaffrey is best known for playing Jimmy Keefe on FX's "Rescue Me" and will appear in the upcoming ABC series "Forever." Jonny Orsini recently appeared on Broadway in Macbeth and The Nance, for which he received a Theater World Award, the Clive Barnes Award, and an Outer Critics Circle Award nomination. A cast member of the original Broadway production of Dreamgirls,Brenda Pressley was recently on Broadway in The Lyons.
