Virginia Stage Company's second production of Season 37 is the Tony Award Winning All My Sons, a play by Arthur Miller and based upon a true story. This masterwork by one of America's seminal playwrights is about family dynamics, courage, and the struggle to survive during World War II. We follow the life of a businessman who narrowly avoids incarceration for shipping cracked machine parts to the military. While his partner is left to take the blame, the crime eventually comes to his backyard. All My Sons is a preeminent example of American Realism, a genre that examines the human condition by depicting the lives and activities of everyday people during a time of crisis.

With this production, VSC celebrates Chris Hanna while he directs All My Sons as his first production as VSC's Director of Artistic Vision. Hanna has been with Virginia Stage Company for more than 30 years and has transitioned into this position in order to focus more deeply on what goes on stage. Patrons may remember his acclaimed production of Arthur Miller's other masterwork, Death of a Salesman, on the Wells Theatre stage in 2012. Hanna has been the Resident Director at the Julliard School, developed plays at London's Royal Court Theater and the New York Shakespeare Festival, and has been on the faculty at Old Dominion University for three decades - a position that he will continue to hold.

In addition, we will be releasing in installments a Behind-The-Build Video Series in order to give the people of Hampton Roads a deeper understanding of how our shows are created here in Norfolk. The series will follow the VSC production staff as crewmembers and technicians build the set, hang and install lights, and execute all other steps as they work their magic to make the world of Arthur Miller come alive. Keep an eye out on our website and social media accounts to watch as we share with our community an inside look at what goes into making a show and the rock stars that you don't get to see on stage.

All My Sons opens with three discounted preview performances, October 27-29, with Opening Night on October 30. After 22 performances, including a student matinee on November 5, the production will conclude on November 15. Tickets for each show start as low as $19, a radically different price than in seasons past. The best seats in the theatre are available for $55 with discounts for groups, students, and the military.

Virginia Stage Company is Southeastern Virginia's leading theater destination, serving an audience of over 70,000 annually both at the Wells Theatre and throughout the community. VSC's mission is to "enrich, educate, and entertain the region by creating and producing theatrical art of the highest quality."
