Registration is now open for the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey's Summer Art Camp, running July 10 through August 31, 2017.

The Art Center's award-winning Camp is open to children and teens ages five and up and staffed by professional art educators and student counselors. Camp is offered on a week-by-week basis with varying themes allowing participants to sign up for several weeks.

Campers that register before March 31 will receive a $25 dollar early bird discount.

Children will explore a new theme each week through different media and creative practices that enhance knowledge and appreciation of the visual arts. Projects will include hands-on activities such as drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking, and three-dimensional work. Each camper will have the opportunity to create up to 10 original projects each week, led by experts in the creative field. At the end of each week campers will put together an art show in their homeroom studios for family and friends to see. Campers will benefit from a structured program founded on strong educational principles, designed to help children in many other ways beyond their camp experience.

Early drop off is available from 8:30 - 10:00 am for an additional fee. Register online at www.artcenternj.org/blog/2017/01/01/summer-art-camp-2017-children-and-teens-are-in-for-a-treat. You can also register by phone at 908-273-9121 or in person at the Art Center. The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey is located at 68 Elm Street in Summit and is open seven days a week.

For parents planning school breaks, the Art Center will offer a one week Mini-Session during the February break followed by a Spring Break Art Camp, a five day program in April. Children ages 5 - 12 will get hands-on studio art experience in a variety of media including drawing, painting, sculpture and much more. Parents can choose from 1 day or a full week during spring break.

For more than 80 years, the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey has been dedicated to viewing, making and learning about contemporary art. Recognized as a leading non-profit arts organization and accredited by the American Alliance for Museums, the Art Center's renowned studio school, acclaimed exhibitions, and educational outreach initiatives serve thousands of youth, families, seniors and people with special needs every year.
