It has been announced that Tony Award winner Shirley Knight and Tony nominee Alison Fraser will star in the world premiere production of 'Come Back, Come Back, Wherever You Are' at the George Street Playhouse in New Jersey starting October 6.

The production will open the George Street Playhouse's new season. 'Come Back, Come Back, Wherever You Are' is directed by Arthur Laurents, who also penned the play. The cast also features Jim Bracchitta, Leslie Lyles and John Carter.

In a statement George Street artistic director David Saint said, "At the heart of any play by Arthur Laurents there are two key ingredients. The first is an honest, richly-drawn cast of characters who wrestle with and stand up for their beliefs, confronting one another when their opinions differ. The other common theme is the truth by which Mr. Laurents has lived his 92 years-and-counting: that, in all of life, the only thing that really matters is love. His newest play, Come Back, Come Back, Wherever You Are, is no exception. It is an intimate, stunning new drama about a woman coping with a devastating loss, her overbearing mother-in-law and the advances of a sexually persistent new suitor. But at its heart, it is a play about love."

The production team includes scenic designer James Youmans, lighting designer Howell Binkley, costume designer Esther Arroyo and sound designer Christopher J. Bailey. Musical direction wil be helmed by Christopher Howatt.

Alison Fraser was most recently seen on Broadway as Tessie Tura in the Arthur Laurents helmed Gypsy starring Patti LuPone. Fraser is a two time Tony Award nominee for The Secret Garden and Romance/Romance, a Drama Desk Award nominee for The Secret Garden, and a Carbonell Award winner for Romance/Romance. She is the first ever recipient of Philadelphia's Barrymore Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of The Blonde in Marion Adler, Scott Wentworth and Craig Boehmler's film noir musical Gunmetal Blues under the direction of Ziri Zizka. She received a Best Supporting Actress Award for playing Chloe in Lips Together, Teeth Apart at the George Street Playhouse, and she returned there to play Diana in Lend Me A Tenor directed by David Saint. Fraser reprised the role of The Blonde in Gunmetal Blues, opposite Patrick Quinn at the George Street Playhouse also directed by David Saint. Other Broadway credits include Martha in The Secret Garden, Josefine/Monica in Romance/Romance, and Dorine in Tartuffe: Born Again, and Helena Landless in The Mystery of Edwin Drood.

Shirley Knight is a veteran of stage and screen. She has been nominated twice for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, in 1960 for The Dark at the Top of the Stairs and in 1962 for Sweet Bird of Youth. Knigh's feature films include Sidney Lumet's The Group (1966), Richard Lester's Petulia (1968), Francis Ford Coppola's The Rain People (1969), and As Good As It Gets (1997). Her theatre credits include Three Sisters (1964), We Have Always Lived in the Castle (1966), Kennedy's Children (1975), which earned her the Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play, and A Lovely Sunday for Creve Coeur (1979). She was nominated for the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actress in a Play twice, for Landscape of the Body and The Young Man from Atlanta, which also garnered her a Tony nomination for Best Leading Actress in a Play.

'Come Back, Come Back, Wherever You Are' opens October 9th and runs through Nov. 1. For tickets call (732) 246-7717 or visit www.GSPonline.org.
