The Boiler Room Theatre (BRT) is staging a full-scale production of Les Miserables August 8, 9 and 10 at 8 pm in Liberty Hall at the Factory at Franklin. The musical will feature local, professional talent performing what is possibly the most popular musical in the world.

The iconic musical, sponsored by Williamson Medical Center and Springtree Media Group, will be presented as a special three-performance benefit for the non-profit Boiler Room Theatre. BRT is Williamson County's original and longest-running professional theatre company, located in the Factory at Franklin, TN.

Rather than staging the show in it's usual, intimate 120-seat location, the BRT will perform in Liberty Hall (also at the Factory), which will allow far more people to attend the first locally produced, professional run of Les Mis in this area.

"We realized the Academy Award Winning movie produced earlier this year starring Anne Hathaway, Russell Crowe and Hugh Jackman, created a renewed interest in this musical," explained Sondra Morton, Operations Manager of the Boiler Room Theatre and Director of this production of Les Miserables. "We wanted to afford people the opportunity to see this powerful show in its original theatrical context, but in order to do that properly, we had to 'Go big or go home,'" she laughed.

After many, long hard days of auditions this past spring, Morton is confident she has the right cast to do this celebrated musical justice.

"We are so excited about the cast, composed of both veteran Boiler Room professionals and a few new additions to the theatre company," she added. "We have also partnered with a local church to provide additional pit voices, which will help the music really soar."

LES MISERABLES tells the story of former convict Jean Valjean and his quest for redemption while being hounded by the relentless inspector Javert in 19th century France. Set against the backdrop of the French Revolution, LES MISERABLES is epic and engrossing, with a powerful score that includes the beloved songs "I Dreamed a Dream," "On My Own," "Bring Him Home" and the stirring "One Day More."

Not only will audiences enjoy a stirring performance, they will be supporting performance arts in their community by purchasing a ticket. As a non-profit, professional theatre company, BRT depends on fundraisers and donations for half of its annual production budget. Before and after the performance, theatregoers can bid on Silent Auction items to benefit the program.

Performances of LES MISERABLES will be held at 8 p.m. from August 8th through the 10th at Liberty Hall in The Factory at Franklin. Ticket prices will range from $29 - $99 and may be purchased by calling the Boiler Room Theatre at 615-794-7744 or ordered online at www.boilerroomtheatre.com.
