The Guthrie Theater today announced the casting and creative team for the presentation of the Dowling Studio's 2013-14 season opener Moon Show 143 by Minnesota-bred, Seattle-based theater and visual artist Kyle Loven. Loven's body of work combines puppetry, projections and other art forms with live actors. Nick Hubbard will direct the world premiere of this production inspired by moon myths and beliefs from around the world.

This theatrical duet features the talents of Kyle Loven and Paurl Walsh in an experience that combines live and recorded sound with puppetry and movement to portray four fateful encounters between humans and the moon. Loven is "The Moon" while Walsh provides the live soundtrack during this cosmic rock concert. Moon Show 143 begins performances on September 14 in the Dowling Studio.

Although Kyle Loven is based in Seattle, he has extensive Minnesota ties and has worked with Michael Sommers and Susan Haas' Open Eye Figure Theatre and performed with Theatre de la Jeune Lune and the Children's Theatre Company. His live performances have also been seen in Amsterdam, Taipei, New York, Minneapolis, Portland, Orlando and Seattle.

Loven is a previous recipient of a Jim Henson Foundation grant, putting him in the company of Basil Twist and Ping Chong. He also received the 2013 Innovation in Puppetry Award from the National Festival of the Puppeteers of America. Of Loven's talent, Seattle Magazine offers, "In Loven's able hands, inanimate objects leap to life. He has an uncanny knack for animating everything from hand puppets and marionettes (which he crafts) to teapots, paper cranes and envelopes. His pacing is sophisticated-slow and shadowy, increasing suspense and wonder."

The artistic team includes Amiya Brown (Lighting Designer), Paurl Walsh (Composer), Kate Wallich (Choreographer) and Laura Abend(Stage Manager).

Moon Show 143 begins performances on September 14 and continues through September 18 in the Dowling Studio at the Guthrie Theater. Single tickets start at $22 and are now on sale through the Guthrie Box Office at 612.377.2224, toll-free 877.44.STAGE, 612.225.6244(Group Sales) and online at www.guthrietheater.org.
