For several years, the Orange County Playwrights Alliance has presented a summer staged reading event at Newport Theatre Arts Center in Newport Beach. This year's event features four new one-act plays from local dramatists who have produced across the country - an eclectic playbill of one-acts set in America and overseas.

Trapped in Limbo | written and directed by John Franceschini
To release herself from mental torment, an older woman suffering from schizophrenia must confront her past and the emotional pain of incest, murder and a deceased newborn. Featuring Jo Black, David Cramer and Veronica Holley.

Old School Romance | written and directed by Jordan R. Young
Three couples pursue romance: a sailor makes a date with a nurse; a pair of former high school classmates get reacquainted over lunch; a widow and a widower meet on a cruise ship and agree you only live once. Featuring Jo Black, John-FreDeRick Jones, Aly Lovelace, Kyra Olschewske and Nate Woodson.

Breakfast for Quartet | written by Nicholas Thurkettle | directed by Richard Stein
One diner, four strangers. Each has their own song, but if you listen, you might hear some melodies repeating.

Clara | written by Arthur Kraft | directed by Sharyn Case
Friedrich Wieck despises composer Robert Schumann. Wieck's daughter Clara loves and wants to marry Schumann. She goes to court to overturn the legal requirement for parental permission to marry. Featuring Keith Bush, Laura Flores and Brian Page.
