To thank the Santa Monica community for their incredible support through the years, Cirque du Soleil will be taking over Third Street Promenade on February 6, 2014 for a special thrilling preview of TOTEM, its latest big top production currently performing at the Santa Monica Pier through March 16. Local Red Bull-affiliated BMX athletes and breakdancers will join the TOTEM performers for a special celebration bringing back Cirque du Soleil where it originated from nearly 30 years ago: the street. At 12:30pm on February 6, locals and tourists are invited to gather on Third Street Promenade between Broadway and Santa Monica Blvd. to take part in this exclusive free event and encounter the meeting of the lavish artistic feats of TOTEM with the world of street performance.

Written and directed by world-renowned multidisciplinary artist Robert Lepage, TOTEM traces the fascinating journey of mankind from its original amphibian state to its ultimate desire to fly. Inspired by many founding myths, TOTEM illustrates, through a visual and acrobatic language, the evolutionary progress of species. Somewhere between science and legend, TOTEM explores the ties that bind Man to other species, his dreams and his infinite potential.

Featuring a cast of 46 acrobats, actors, musicians and singers, TOTEM is an uplifting array of athleticism, comedy, heartfelt emotions and surprising visual effects.
