Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts is pleased to announce that they will be open every weekend during the winter season offering an increase in programming including a special documentary film series, as well as a series of Sunday kid films.

"A lot of people know us as the place to go for live theater, concerts, and comedy," says Tracy Mitchell, Bay Street Theater's Executive Director. "Our upcoming East End Music film series is just another example of how we continue to work with documentary filmmakers from both near and far."

The East End Music Film Series will be presented by Suzy Elmiger, a seasoned film and TV editor, who will host three films this winter including talkbacks with the directors and possibly other filmmakers involved in the process.

Tickets are $15, the films are Sundays at 2 pm. The first one in the series took place last week with the screening of A.K.A. Doc Pomus and discussion with filmmaker Sharyn Felder Upcoming:

February 7: Screening of a selection of films by and discussion with D.A. Pennebaker, films to include Daybreak Express and Company with Elaine Stritch at her wildest.

February 28: Screening of Voices of Sarafina! by Nigel Nobel and discussion

In addition, a kid's film festival is scheduled Sundays at 2pm with fun for the whole family. Tickets are just $5 per person. This series is sponsored in part by JCP Landscaping, Inc., and Susan Edwards & Ian Ziskin.

The film series continues with:

February 14: Finding Nemo
March 6: Toy Story
March 13: Toy Story 2
April 3: Toy Story 3

This year's Kids Film series was created and supported in part by Bay Street Theater's Community Connections Council (3CO).

"We are constantly asked by many of the East End's non-profits to host their events or in this case, to provide a little entertainment for our youth during the cold winter months. And we're always happy to help out when we can. Fortunately, our Community Connections Council has been a huge help," says Tracy Mitchell.

In 2014, Bay Street Theater formed the Community Connections Council to support community-based offerings as part of the "Sag Harbor Center for the Arts" portion of Bay Street Theater's mission. Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts serves as a cultural center for many organizations, including East End Players, Josh Levine Memorial Foundation, Take 2 Film Festival, Katy's Courage, Fighting Chance, and Southampton Hospital, just to name a few. This group's mission is a supplement to, not a substitute for, Bay Street Theater's core mission as a not-for-profit professional theater.

Bay Street Theater remains the home of the Hamptons Take 2 Documentary Film Festival, which presents films every December as well as early spring, as they have done for eight years now. In addition, the Hamptons International Film Festival also holds its event entitled "Conversations with...," a panel discussion. Most recently they presented "A Conversation with Dan Rather," with selections from the film Truth. Past winters, Joe Lauro's Historic Films Inc. has hosted many film series representing a retrospective of Rock 'n' Roll legends.
