Donn Arden's JUBILEE! Celebrates 31 Years on Las Vegas Strip
The longest-running show on the Las Vegas Strip, Donn Arden's Jubilee! at Bally's Las Vegas, celebrates its 31st anniversary today, July 31, 2012, and is the last-standing quintessential showgirl show in the city. Synonymous with Las Vegas, the intrigue surrounding the iconic and ultra-glamorous showgirl remains as true today as when the show opened in 1981.
"Jubilee! has a staying power unlike that of any other show," said Diane Palm, company manager of Donn Arden's Jubilee! "There is something both intriguing and iconic about the showgirl and she is still in high demand, even in today's day and age. People everywhere are drawn to the gorgeous, larger-than-life rhinestone and feather costumes."
Grammy Award-Winning recording artist CeeLo Green's "I Want You" music video features the ladies of Jubilee! in a dance number filmed by the Garden of the Gods pool at Caesars Palace. The mega-star, who will open his new show, "CeeLo Green is LOBERACE," at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Feb. 2013, is constantly flanked with the iconic beauties at press events and performances.
One of the most celebrated bands to come out of Sin City, The Killers, recently called on showgirls to accompany them in their viral video, which launched on NME.com this July. In addition, lead singer Brandon Flowers opted for the ladies of Jubilee! decked out in their signature pink and orange costumes for the cover of his solo album Flamingo, released in Sept. 2010.
The showgirls have even managed to make an appearance in the culinary world, as they'll be featured in the season finale 10 of Chef Gordon Ramsay's "Hell's Kitchen" on Fox.
The 1995 film "Casino," which features acting greats Robert De Niro, Sharon Stone and Joe Pesci, was filmed in Las Vegas and features Jubilee! showgirls throughout, as well as a cameo appearance by Fluff LeCoque, who served as the show's beloved company manager for over 30 years. In addition, Jubilee! has had numerous guest performers throughout the years, including Vivica Fox and Tyra Banks, among others.
Jubilee! was conceived, staged and directed by the legendary Donn Arden. The elaborate retro-glam extravaganza features lavish costumes, dazzling scenery, dynamic music, graceful pageantry and of course, gorgeous showgirls wearing their trademark bright shade of red lipstick. Witness the mesmerizing special effects and pageantry of Jubilee! nightly at 7:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. The show is dark on Fridays.
