Swaswati Roy is a journalist in a leading print media house of Kolkata. There are some people in her surroundings that help Swaswati open her eyes - Atrei, Bitan, Atanu, Nila Roy (her mother), Shampa (her sister), Tridib Roy (her father) and their servant, Sanu. The torture they inflict upon Sanu reminds Swaswati of Draupadi (also known as Yagyaseni), the most important female character of the Mahabharata.

Society, in its core aspect, is the same today as it was in the days of the Mahabharata. In every corner of our society, there are many Draupadis and Dushasanas still present in our society. When Sanu was given the punishment of becoming the victim in a gang rape, Swaswati is heartbroken. This is because her mother was once the victim of a gang rape too. Her mother was condemned, but the real sinners are still unscathed.

Swaswati begins to wonder - What will happen? Is there any real justice for women in today's 'civilized' society? How long will this humiliation continue?
