Society for the Performing Arts (SPA), Houston's leading performing arts presenter, is teaming up with local celebrity chefs and restaurants for a special event titled "A Taste of SPA" on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at 7 p.m. All proceeds from this event will go toward the newly created Theresa Mallett Scholarship for Young Artists.

Chaired by Nichole Pruitt, Theresa Mallett and Kipp Baxter, guests will be treated like celebrities as they walk the red carpet to the Jones Hall Stage Door before proceeding to the Rehearsal Room to enjoy heavy hors d'oeuvres, dessert and a culinary conversation with Houston's own Executive Banquet Chef Jeff Axline from Hotel Zaza; Executive Chef David Cordúa of Cordúa Restaurants; Chef Kevin Naderi of Roost Restaurant; Chef Monica Pope of Sparrow Bar + Cookshop; and 2013 James Beard nominee and Executive Chef Chris Shepherd of Underbelly.

Food for the evening has been generously donated by Araya Artisan Chocolate; Bistro Lancaster, The Lancaster Hotel; Cordúa Restaurants, Dacapo's Pastry Café; Fleming's Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar; Haven, A Seasonal Kitchen & Cove Cold Bar; The Houston Club; Houston Dairymaids; Jackson & Company; Mockingbird Bistro; Hotel Zaza; Roost Restaurant; Sparrow Bar + Cookshop; and Underbelly. Additional donors include Brunswick Press Inc.; Dromgoole's Fine Writing Instruments & Stationery; and Edudardo Ortiz.

Tickets for this event are $100 per person. There is limited space available. For more information or to purchase a ticket, email katy@spahouston.org or call 713-632-8116.
