The Centaur Theatre will host a night of delectable dishes and libations as we celebrate the magic of live theatre. Feel like an actor in your own play as you enjoy the theatrical ambiance in our elaborately decorated Seagram Gallery, which awaits you on Thursday, September twenty-second at six o'clock in the evening.

At this year's gala, ACT I, SCENE 1, you will be transported into the world of theatre. Honourary chair Jean Pierre Desrosiers will welcome you in Centaur's elegant Seagram Gallery beginning at six o'clock with a cocktail dînatoire and a silent auction. There will be opportunity to bid on extravagant silent auction items such as nights at luxurious hotels, exclusive restaurant certificates and beautiful jewelry.

At seven thirty, our guests will be seated upstairs in the intimate C1 for a live auction animated by Aaron Rand, host of the "Drive Home Show" at CJAD 800, who will lead a lively round of bidding on great prizes such as a night on the town complete with a limo ride, a romantic dinner and a night at a luxurious Montreal hotel, and a weekend stay for up to ten people at a luxurious cottage in Mont Tremblant. Other auction prizes include a week at St. Andrew's by the Sea in a historic mansion set on one and a half acres of beautiful land once owned by Lady Beaverbrook and a chance to get a behind-the-scene look at the upcoming production of Centaur's God of Carnage.

Following the auction there will be a special presentation of "Teaching Hamlet", written and performed by Montreal's own award-winning playwright Keir Cutler and featuring Brett Watson. As the theme of the evening revolves around the greatest writer in the English language, William Shakespeare, and his most famous play "Hamlet", guests will be delighted with this special performance of the comedic exchange between an actor and an intellect facing-off in a battle of wits over Shakespeare and his greatest play. Pat Donnelly of The Gazette called the play "an intelligent, hilarious word wrangle over authorship of the plays, as the worlds of theatre and academia are cleverly juxtaposed."

There are still tickets left for this event! Act now before they are all gone! If you do not want to miss the chance to experience this whimsical evening, please contact Kaysy Paolucci, Gala Coordinator, at 514-288-1229, ext. 240, or at gala@centaurtheatre.com. Tickets are $250 each, $5,000 for a patron table (ten tickets).
