Internationally renowned Wizard of Oz and Judy Garland expert John Fricke will visit Oakland University for a lively and engaging talk from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1 in Oakland Center Banquet Room A. The author, entertainer and historian has written several books on the iconic film and actress, including "The Wonderful World of Oz: An Illustrated History of the American Classic," released in 2013.

Fricke earned a 2004 Emmy Award as a co-producer of the PBS "American Masters" program "Judy Garland: By Myself." He was also nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Album Notes for the compact disc "Judy Garland: 25th Anniversary Retrospective," which he produced for Capitol Records.

Fricke also appeared in the 2007 documentary "Return To Oz: The Joy That Got Away" and served as a consultant for the 2005 deluxe DVD set of MGM's "The Wizard of Oz," released by Warner Home Video.

The event is supported by OU's Honors College, Classic Hollywood student organization, Cinema Studies program and Kresge Library. Seating is limited.
