The New McCree Theatre, G-2040 W. Carpenter Road, Flint, MI 48505, is announcing its 2015-2016 Season of theatre productions and other presentations.

The theatre opens its new Season with a performance by Flint's own multi-talented, songstress, author, and reality television host, Sophia Janell Taylor, Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. Sophia will sing selections from her newest CD, Audio Biography, including the hit song "Surrender," and read excerpts from her latest book, Faithful Liar. Tickets for the concert are $15.00 and can be purchased at the McCree Theatre office.

On October 1, 2015, the New McCree Theatre opens its mainstage theatre Season with the 6-time Tony-award winning musical, Dreamgirls, with music and lyrics written by Henry Krieger and book by Tom Eyen. Dreamgirls could be representative of many of the girl groups of the past, and the exploitation and manipulation they had to endure to cast their acts into the limelight. The original "Dreamettes" consisted of Deena Jones, Effie White, and Lorrell Robinson. However, when the "Dreams" as Curtis Taylor renamed them after the group achieved a modicum of success, were on the cusp of making the big time, Curtis abruptly removes the overweight Effie from lead singer in favor of the more physically attractive Deena, creating conflict that extended over into familial relationships. Dreamgirls runs through October 17, 2015.

On Saturday, November 21, 2015, the theatre welcomes the Gospel Divas, Lynne Calloway and Lydia Seale, to its stage in a Pre-Thanksgiving Day gospel fest. Ms. Calloway will sing songs from her latest CD, "Secret Place," while Ms. Seale will render selections from her CD,"13:13." Tickets for this dynamic gospel concert are $15.00.

The New McCree Theatre brings in the Holidays with its classic Christmas musical, Black Nativity Revisited: Christmas at a Crossroads, written by the theatre's executive director and producer, Charles H. Winfrey. This musical challenges our resolve to return to the Season's true meaning through song, dance, and spoken word. Black Nativity runs from December 3 - 19, 2015.

On February 13 at 7:00 p.m. and Valentine's Day, February 14, 2016 at 4:00 p.m., the New McCree Theatre presents a much anticipated return of the Heartbeats, singing all of your favorite Motown songs from the Temptations, Marvin Gaye, the Miracles, Stevie Wonder, and the Four Tops. This group will mesmerize you with their deep, melodic harmonies and smooth moves. Tickets are $15.00.

For Women's History Month, March 3 - 19, 2016, the New McCree Theatre presents an encore performances of the hit choreopoem by Ntozake Shange, For Colored Girls Who Consider Suicide/When the Rainbow is Enuf. The play, through narrative, poetry, and dance, tells the story of seven women, represented by seven different colors, who have suffered oppression in a racist and sexist society.

The New McCree Theatre closes its 2015-2016 Season with a musical satire by Javon Johnson, titled Sanctified. This musical pokes fun at the trials and tribulations of a church choir in an African American church and all of the stereotypes we could possibly conjure up about the behaviors that abound. Sanctified runs May 5 - 21, 2016.

All of the New McCree Theatre mainstage productions are performed on Thursday and Friday at 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Advance admission is $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for students and seniors. At the door prices are $18.00 and $12.00. The rate for groups of 10 or more is $11.00 for adults and $7.00 for students and seniors. Every Thursday is 2 for 1 night, Admission is $10.00.
