When you are feeling blue, what do you turn to for comfort? Music? Friends? Books? TV? Food? Family? For the die-hard musical fan known only as "The Man in the Chair", it's his favorite musical, The Drowsy Chaperone. Who is this mysterious Man in the Chair? He is the narrator in the Tony® Award-winning "musical within a comedy" The Drowsy Chaperone, now playing at The Players Guild of Dearborn.

As the turntable spins in The Man's apartment, the musical comes to life in his living room. The Man offers a unique perspective of his favorite musical as he stops and starts the show, narrating the story, offering his unique perspective on the world of musical theatre.

The Drowsy Chaperone is the tale of a celebrated actress who is giving up the screen to marry her true love. Along the way we meet a wealthy dowager, her faithful butler, a frustrated theater impresario, a dizzy chorine, gangsters posing as pastry chefs, an anxious best man, a Latin lothario and, above all, the Drowsy (in other words, tipsy) Chaperone. As the record plays, The Man in the Chair gives us the story and the backstory, and boldly addresses the great unspoken desire in all of our hearts: to be entertained.

Director (and Choreographer) Paul Bruce of Dearborn promises that you will be entertained! He calls the show "magical" and claims there will not be a dry eye in the house, however, we will all walk out feeling wonderful. The Drowsy Chaperone closes out a phenomenal season at The Players Guild of Dearborn, so you won't want to miss your chance to cry, laugh, be mesmerized and to walk out truly entertained!
