Monster Box Theatre (MBT) under the leadership of Artistic Director, Paul Stark, announces Neil Simon's Lost in Yonkers.

Winner of the Tony Award for Best Play and the Pulitzer Prize, Lost in Yonkers is a heartfelt and hilarious coming-of-age story by America's great comic playwright, Neil Simon. Directed by Stacy Grutza and featuring Trevor Stark as Jay and Alex Optochin as Artie, both veteran young actors. Theodora Pardales, who performed to rave reviews in Title of Show this past summer at MBT plays Bella. The stubborn matriarch of the family, Grandma, is played by Mary L. Pettit, also a veteran actor and director from local stages such as MBT and The Purple Rose. Local actor Nate Brassfield plays Louie, Kim Janowicz is Gurt, and Ken Overwater brings Eddie to life in their debut with MBT to round out a stellar cast.

Like many of Simon's plays, Lost in Yonkers is drawn from his experiences growing up in New York City. Set during World War II, the two Young Brothers, Arty and Jay are sent to live with their formidable Grandma, the sweet but damaged Aunt Bella, and Uncle Louie, a small-time hoodlum in a strange new world called Yonkers.

Grutza began her association with MBT in 2015 during the Metro-Detroit Fringe Festival and has recently been seen on stage in Jump Camp by Larry Blamire. In September, she directed MBT's critically acclaimed production of Oleanna by David Mamet, the premiere show on MBT's Second Stage.
