In this spectacular event, Des Moines native Max Wellman will team up with his mentor, jazz/pop sensation Roxi Copland - they'll be performing original songs as well as new arrangements of classic favorites, backed by a band assembled from among the best players in the state.

Roxi Copland performs throughout the country, entertaining with an engaging combination of jazz/pop originals and innovative arrangements of everything from Ella to the Offspring. Copland's unique genre is probably best described in the words of one particularly eloquent reviewer as "a possibly schizophrenic but absolutely brilliant concoction of jazz, pop and soul." We're not quite sure if she's more aptly described as "Norah Jones with bite" or "Amy Winehouse sober." Either way, this talented singer/songwriter/pianist won't disappoint. In addition to her own tours, Copland has opened for a number of prominent national and international acts, including most recently pop sensation Vanessa Carlton, jazz virtuoso Jason Lindner, the Mingus Dynasty Band, and the a cappella powerhouse the Manhattan Transfer.

At just 19 years old, jazz vocalist Max Wellman's growing resume is highlighted by the chance to open for Grammy-nominated Vanessa Carlton and share the same stage as Opera star Simon Estes. He has enjoyed sold out crowds at Hoyt Sherman Place and has recorded three locally acclaimed albums. Max is now based in Indianapolis where he studies music of all sorts at Butler University's Jordan College of Fine Arts, one of the oldest conservatories in the United States.

MAX & ROXI: LIVE @ THE TEMPLE THEATER is a presentation of the Prairie Meadows Temple Theater Series.
