Arvada Center Holds DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS Auditions in Denver, 6/28-29; NYC, 6/9-11
The Arvada Center will hold auditions for the musical, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels at the Arvada Center, 6901 Wadsworth Blvd., June 28 and 29; and in New York City, June 9 -11. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels will be directed by Arvada Center Artistic Producer Rod A. Lansberry, with musical direction by David Nehls and choreography by Kitty Skillman Hilsabeck.
Denver auditions are June 28 and 29, from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., by appointment only. Call the Arvada Center at 720-898-7200 to schedule a time. Actors must be 18 years & older to audition.
Wojcik/Seay Casting will coordinate the New York City auditions, June 9-11. To be considered for a New York audition, mail a hard copy of your headshot and résumé and indicate the role you are interested in (if known) to the following address:

Experienced performers with strong acting and singing abilities are needed. Dance and/or strong movement are required. See the character breakdown (below) for specifics on available roles. Actors should prepare 16-32 bars from a song appropriate to the style of show. Please bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided. Recorded music or a cappella audition will eliminate casting consideration. A current headshot and résumé are required. Equity members must have a current equity ID card.
This is an Equity LORT B production, non-equity actors will be considered. Individuals of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds including a wide range of physiques are needed and encouraged to audition for all roles.
Rehearsals for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels begin on August 21, 2012. The show opens on September 11 and runs through October 14. Performances are Tuesday through Saturday evenings with matinees on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays for a total of eight shows per week.
Lawrence Jameson Male (age 40 -50) G2 – Bb4 (Tenor)
An older and experienced yet sophisticated con artist. Can be quick-witted and still debonair. Distinguished and cultured. Must be strong actor/ singer with very good smooth dance abilities. Must be able to affect various European dialects in dialogue and songs.
Freddie Benson Male (age 25 – 35) A2 – B4 (Tenor)
A young and inexperienced con man. Quick on his feet but not very bright. Can be crass and inappropriate with little style or grace. Very strong character actor with the ability to play multiple caricatures in a broad style. Physically active with high energy and perfect sense of comic timing.
Christine Colgate Female (age 25 – 35) A3 – f#5 (Mezzo – Soprano)
Younger American Heiress vacationing on the French Riviera. Beautiful with a sweet innocence in style and appearance that underlies all she does and is. Somewhat klutzy and Brooklyn Accent as well as standard American.
Andre Thibault Male (age 35 – 50) F2 – F4 (Bari-tenor)
Distinguished with a strong sense of business and experience. Dry and sardonic but very smart, knows the ropes and how to bend the rules to his advantage. French accent.
Muriel Eubanks Female (age 40 – 50) E3 – C5 (Alto)
Wealthy socialite. Definite distinguished wealthy “old money “air. Glamorous in style and manner with a dry wit. Love interest of Andre.
Jolene Oakes Female (age 30 – 40) A3 – D5 (Alto)
Stereotypical American oil heiress from Oklahoma. “New money” with a loud brash personality. Strong and unapologetic. Thick OK accent. Ability to do rope tricks a plus.
Ensemble Male and Female (ages 25 – 50) Varies
Strong Singer / Dancers to play multiple roles including Lenore, Sophia, Renee, Hotel Manager, Nikos, Conductor, Usherette. Croupier, other wealthy socialites, etc. Strong acting abilities in character choices and ability create unique styles in all character parts.
