Second Thought Theatre closes its 2015 season with one of William Shakespeare's greatest tragedies, Othello. Joel Ferrell's intimate and immersive production starring Tyrees Allen in the title role opens with previews on Wednesday, July 15 and runs through Saturday, August 8. All performances of Othello will take place at Bryant Hall on the Kalita Humphreys Campus, 3636 turtle Creek Blvd. Tickets to Othello can be purchased online at 2TT.co.

"We have decided to produce the show in a very sparse theatrical environment and remove any separation between actor and audience," said Ferrell. "My hope would be that each audience member takes responsibility for speaking up or remaining silent as the plot unfolds around them. This deeply personal play about human frailty and the insidious thoughts that can destroy even the strongest among us, asks the audience how much unacceptable and destructive behavior they will allow."

Jealousy, love, betrayal, seduction. Shakespeare's Othello resonates just as strongly today as it did when it was first penned and performed. Director Joel Ferrell returns to STT after 2013's critically acclaimed Gruesome Playground Injuries to tackle this great classic. In true STT fashion, the production will focus on creative staging and dynamic acting in an intimate environment. One of the finest plays in the English cannon, Othello is about how fear and hatred poison the human heart and lead to great tragedy.

Tyrees Allen makes his return to the Dallas stage and his STT debut as Othello and STT Artistic Director Alex Organ (Red Light Winter) plays the "honest" Iago. Joining them are Morgan Garrett as Desdamona, Taylor Harris as Montano, Max Hartman as Roderigo, Jenny Ledel as Emilia, Blake McNamara as Cassio, Danielle Pickard as the Duchess and Bianca, and Aaron Roberts as Brabantio.

The design team for Othello includes costume design by Jennifer Ables, lighting design by Aaron Johansen and sound design by John Flores.

Othello opens with previews on Wednesday, July 15 at 7:30p. Opening and press night is Friday, July 17 at 8:00pm. The PWYC performances of Othello will take place on Wednesday, July 15; Thursday July 16; Monday, July 20; Monday, July 27 and Monday, August 3 at 7:30p. PWYC tickets are available at the box office one hour prior to the start of the performance and are subject to availability. Othello runs through August 8.
