The Dallas Children's Theater Academy and Fun House Theatre and Film present an original comedy from the mind of Jeff Swearingen this May with Robin Hood and his Merry Women. Writer and director Jeff Swearingen turns the classic tale of Robin Hood into a girl-powered rallying cry fit for audiences of all ages. Reflecting our times and comedically using a well-known story to touch on the subjects of equality and fairness, an all youth cast delivers the tale of a band of women who put the HER in Sherwood Forest, May 19-27.
As Prince John and the Sheriff of Nottingham ramp up their efforts to capture Robin Hood, things in the forest get even worse when not only Maid Marion and the Merry Men are imprisoned but so too are all of the men of the village. Given no choice but to seek reinforcements and embark on a daring rescue, Robin Hood turns to the women of Sherwood Forest for assistance and quite haphazardly one of the first women's movements is born. Part slapstick, part satire and all Fun House, children in the audience will find themselves laughing at the antics of the situation while the reflections of today's political climate will not be lost on the adults.
