The nonprofit AT&T Performing Arts Center, in partnership with the founders of Aurora, today announced "Art Bar - Powered by Reliant," a VIP experience planned for PRELUDE: A Preview of Aurora 2017 - Powered by Reliant. Art Bar, featuring a light installation titled The Future by Dallas artists Alicia Eggert and Safwat Saleem, will be inside the Winspear Opera House and will include complimentary drinks, appetizers by Wolfgang Puck Catering, private restrooms, and sweeping views of the PRELUDE art outside.

Art Bar will be open for both nights of PRELUDE, Friday, October 21 and Saturday, October 22 from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Wristbands allow come-and-go access so patrons can enjoy both the Art Bar inside the Winspear Opera House and PRELUDE outside. Art Bar patrons can also explore all levels of the Winspear Opera House lobby, enjoying elevated views of the installations.

An Art Bar ticket allows for three complimentary drinks including call spirits, beer, wine or soft drinks, and a private cash bar will also be available. Only 250 tickets are available for each night. Tickets go on sale Friday, September 9 at 10:00 a.m.

The Art Bar's featured art installation, The Future by artist Alicia Eggert and Safwat Saleem, illuminates the state of human rights around the world. Three marquee-like signs spell the word "FUTURE" in the world's most commonly spoken languages: English, Chinese and Hindi. Each sign is composed of 206 light bulbs, representing every one of the world's 206 sovereign states. The individual lights are turned on or off to depict each state's standing on three specific human rights issues: armed conflict, gay marriage, and the death penalty. Although many lights remain dim at this present time, they represent the potential for change, and for achieving a brighter, more peaceful, and more sustainable future.

Alicia Eggert is an interdisciplinary artist whose work focuses on the relationship between language, image and time. Her artwork often moves, changes, deteriorates, and in some cases, even dies. It has been exhibited internationally, at venues such as the CAFA Art Museum in Beijing and the Triennale Design Museum in Milan. She has had solo exhibitions at Harvard Medical School and at T+H Gallery in Boston. Alicia earned an MFA in Sculpture/Dimensional Studies from Alfred University and is a TED2013 Fellow. She is an Assistant Professor of Studio Art at the University of North Texas in Denton.

Art Bar tickets are $55 and can be purchased online at www.attpac.org, by phone at 214-880-0202 or in person at the AT&T Performing Arts Center Box Office inside the Winspear Opera House at 2403 Flora Street. The Box Office is open 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. seven days a week and before performances. Some fees may apply.

Presale began Thursday, September 1 at 10 a.m.

PRELUDE will take place over two nights, Friday, October 21 and Saturday, October 22, 2016, and will have a more compact footprint than the normal Aurora biennial events, transforming parts of the AT&T Performing Arts Center campus and the Meyerson Symphony Center with light, video and sound-based, immersive arts installations. In the spirit of Aurora, PRELUDE will remain free and open to the public. In 2011, 2013 and 2015, the Aurora biennial event stretched across the Dallas Arts District. Last year's event attracted a record 50,000 people in a single night.

Live music will precede each night of PRELUDE:

Friday, October 21: Brave Combo - 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. - Strauss Square

Saturday, October 22: Larry g(EE) - 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. - Strauss Square

Note: Both performances are free to the public.

PRELUDE is being sponsored by the Center's official energy provider, Reliant. PRELUDE's media partner is The Dallas Morning News. To sign up for updates and to RSVP to this free event visit www.attpac.org/prelude.
