The Live Theatre League of Tarrant County will present their annual awards on Monday, May 10 in the Fort Worth Community Arts Center on the William Edrington Scott Stage, the place where many of this area's individual producers started their local careers. A welcome reception will be held at 5:30 pm on the outdoor patio with the awards beginning at 6:15 inside the theatre. The annual awards are presented to outstanding individuals in different fields as well as community and philanthropic awards to those organizations or individuals who have helped create and promote awareness of live theatre in Tarrant County.
The following awards will be presented:
2010 LIVE Theatre League AWARDS
Elston Brooks Lifetime Achievement
Joe Stecko - for his longtime commitment to theatre in Tarrant County as musical director for Casa Mañana Musicals for over 30 years.
Ann L Rhodes Philanthropic Award
Jarrell and Berlene Milburn - longtime supporters and season ticket holders at several area theaters
Philanthropic Organization
City of Fort Worth - for their continued support and fiscal awareness to keeping the arts alive
Theatre Arts Advocate
Theater Jones - presented to co-founders Mark Lowry and Elaine Liner for creating a communication based support system for promoting, reviewing, and supporting live theatre in the metroplex
Theatre Arts Educator
Sharon Benge - a dedicated teacher, administrator, director and mentor for over 40 years in the Tarrant County area for many of the current artists and producers. Also hosts a talk show on WRR that promotes the arts in the metroplex
Design and Technical Award
Chad Jung (light design) - born and raised in the Tarrant county arts scene and a much sought after lighting designer for Bass Hall, opera, dance, and live theatre. Chad is the son of Kids Who Care Executive Director, Deborah Jung
Bill Garber Young Theatre Artist
David Lanza - a young man diversified in the arts, both onstage and off, who has worked for several area theatre groups
Rudy Eastman Diversity Award
Rob Bosquez - dedicated to creating diversity in arts groups and providing service to several area theaters
In addition to the major awards listed above, service awards will be presented by theater producers to individuals who have shown outstanding personal service or dedication to that theater.
