About Common

Common appeared on the big screen as Civil Rights Movement leader James Bevel in Selma (2014), the Oscar-nominated film that portrays the 1965 Selma to Montgomery marches. Alongside John Legend, Common won the 2015 Academy Award for Best Original Song and the 2015 Golden Globe for Best Original Song for "Glory," which was featured in the film. He most recently appeared as Monster T in David Ayer's high-profile, comic book movie, Suicide Squad, which continues to break box office records both domestically and around the world.

Common most recently appeared opposite Keanu Reeves in the much-anticipated sequel John Wick 2 (February 2017) and with Allison Janney in Judy Greer's directorial debut, A Happening of Monumental Proportions (May 2017). Upcoming, Common can be seen in the 2017 action-thriller Hunter Killer opposite Gerard Butler, Billy Bob Thornton, and Gary Oldman.

Common's 11th studio album, Black America Again (2016), features the socially conscious single, "Black America Again" with Stevie Wonder, and the anthem "Letter to the Free," the end-title track to Ava DuVernay's powerful documentary, 13TH (2016). "Letter to the Free" was nominated for a 2016 Critics Choice Documentary Award for Best Song in a Documentary.
