The Other Theatre Company (TOTC) announces the Chicago premiere of Threesome, written by Yussef El Guindi and direction by Jason Gerace, April 14 - May 21 at the Greenhouse Theater Center, 2257 N. Lincoln Ave. Previews are Friday, April 14, Saturday, April 15, Thursday, April 20, Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22 at 8 p.m. Opening day is Sunday, April 23 at 2 p.m. The performance is 85 minutes with no intermission. The regular performance schedule, April 27 - May 21, is Thursdays and Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 3 and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Tickets for previews are $25 and for the regular run $30. Leila and Rashid, Egyptian-Americans with ties to Cairo, attempt to solve their relationship issues by inviting a relative stranger into their bedroom to engage in a threesome. What begins as a hilariously awkward evening soon becomes an experience fraught with secrets, raising issues of sexism, possession and independence.

ABOUT Jason Gerace, director of Threesome

Jason Gerace is a freelance director in Chicago, and is so thrilled to be directing again for The Other Theatre Company. He was the recipient of the 2014 Non-Equity Jeff Award in Outstanding Direction for Great Expectations with Strawdog Theatre Company, which led to the adaptation's first publication. Earlier this spring he directed the world premiere of Gabe McKinley's The Source for Route 66 Theatre Company. Regional directing credits include Last Train to Nibroc (Haven Theatre, Chicago), Wrecks (with John Judd; Chicago), Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?and Opus (RedTwist Theatre, Chicago). Jason originally hails from Anchorage, Alaska and holds an MFA in Directing from The University of Oklahoma. When not directing plays he is happy to be a husband to Amy and a daddy to Ruby and Brooks. He is an associate member of SDC, and has been Artistic Associate of American Theater Company since 2008.

ABOUT Yussef El Guindi, playwright of Threesome

Born in Egypt, raised in London and now based in Seattle, Yussef El Guindi received a BA from American University in Cairo and a 1985 MFA in playwriting from Carnegie Mellon University. He frequently examines the collision of ethnicities, cultures and politics that face Arab-Americans. He has had at least 16 plays produced since 2001 in regional theaters from Durham to Anchorage and at the same time he has worked as resident playwright at Silk Road Theatre Project (Chicago); Literary Manager for Golden Thread Productions (San Francisco); Playwright in Residence, Dramaturg and Lecturer at Duke University (Durham, North Carolina); Dramaturg for Eureka Theatre and reader for the Magic Theatre, both in San Francisco.
