The Board of Directors and Artistic Director, David Leidholdt, are pleased to announce the second offering in the Millbrook Playhouse Saturday Morning Kids Show series, The Prince and the Pauper!

The commedia troupe - Columbine, Rosetta, Punchin, and Arlequin - cracks open their big book of stories once again to share Mark Twain's tale of The Prince and the Pauper. This take on the classic story of mixed-identity is ripe with physical comedy, clowning, antics, and slapsticks! This story is especially well-suited for hysterics and commedia charm with our players pretending to be other people... who are pretending to be somebody else themselves! The Prince and the Pauper tells the story of two boys in England who were born on the same day and look identical, but are unrelated. One is a prince and the other is a pauper. Through unusual circumstances, they meet and exchange clothing, which leads to everyone confusing the identities of the two boys.

The various talents of the actors make the play as entertaining and relevant today as it was to the people of Renaissance Europe, when commedia dell'arte was at its height of popularity.

The acting troupe is formed from Millbrook's multi-talented staff, with Matt Spencer as Harlequin, Brooke Reese as Rosetta, Michael Rogers as Punchin, and Tristin Evans as Columbine.

Prince and the Pauper is one of eleven commedia dell'arte adaptations, written by the renowned, award-winning children's playwright, Lane Riosley and directed by Michaela Barczak. Including Scenic Design by Darby Fitzsimons, Costume Design by Sherry Wu, Lighting Design by Kenzie Currie, Props Design by Trinity Aragon-Burton, and Sound Design by Nathaniel Garcia.

Don't miss this troupe of traveling commedia actors and their hilarious adventures, coming to Millbrook's Courtyard stage on July 15, July 29, and August 5, 2017 at 10:00am. Tickets $5 kids, $10.00 for adults. You can purchase tickets by calling 570-748-8083, online at www.millbrookplayhouse.org. Box office hours are Monday and Tuesday from 9am to 5pm and Wednesday through Sunday from 9am to 9pm.
