New Rochelle Opera, celebrating 31 years of bringing quality opera to Westchester County, will honor Metropolitan Opera mezzo-soprano Rosalind Elias and Maestro Eve Queler at its Annual Spring Gala on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 6:30 pm at The Fountainhead, located at 55 Quaker Ridge Road, New Rochelle, NY. The annual event is the Company's largest fundraiser.
"Each year, we choose honorees whose breadth of work exemplifies high artistry, and who have had an impact on opera or the performing arts," said NRO Artistic Director Camille Coppola of the event. "This year, we are delighted to have Rosalind and Eve join us to celebrate our 31st season." Ms. Coppola added. One of the finest singing-actresses of our time, Rosalind Elias has reached living legend status, having performed more than 50 roles with leading opera companies throughout the world, including the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Vienna State Opera, Paris Opera, Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, Hamburg State Opera, Glyndebourne Festival, Santa Fe Opera, the Liceo in Barcelona, and the Teatro San Carlo in Lisbon. She has also performed on numerous occasions for opera companies, leading orchestras across the world and on Broadway. Eve Queler is recognized as a pioneer in the world of opera. As a guest conductor of many European and South American orchestras, as well as through her work as music director of The Opera Orchestra of New York, she has conducted high-quality performances of seldom-heard operatic masterpieces, featuring internationally acclaimed stars. Maestro Queler recently received the nation's highest honor for lifetime achievement in the field of opera, as the 2010 National Endowment for the Arts Lifetime Achievement in Opera award recipient.Videos
