John Bolton and More to Star in Hangar Theatre's CLYBOURNE PARK, 8/8-17

Hangar Theatre continues its 39th season with the regional premiere of Bruce Norris' award-winning play, Clybourne Park, running from August 8th through 17th. Winner of a Tony Award for Best Play, the Olivier Award, the Evening Standard Award, and a Pulitzer Prize for Drama, this cutting-edge, wickedly funny satire digs into the heart of race and real estate in the suburbs of Chicago. Inspired by historical events, the play begins in 1959 when a white couple sells their home to the neighborhood's first black family, and thus sparks controversy. Fifty years later, the house is again changing hands, this time to a young white couple moving into the now black community.

This provocative salute to Lorraine Hansberry's classic piece A Raisin in the Sun features John Bolton (Broadway's Curtains, Spamalot; TV's The Good Wife, Boardwalk Empire), Jesse Bush (the Hangar's November and Ever So Humble, the film BIRDMAN opposite Michael Keaton), and Jeremy Ellison Gladstone (the Hangar's Titanic and Off-Broadway's The Fantasticks). Joining them on stage are Amy Da Luz (Picnic and Little Foxes at Triad Stage and Next Fall at Paper Lantern Theatre Company) and Edward O'Blenis (Richard the Second at Yale Repertory Theatre and Hamlet at Moonworks Theatre) with recent NYU graduates Kullan Edberg and Olivia Washington. Acting Artistic Director Stephanie Yankwitt directs this compelling Hangar production.

BRUCE NORRIS (Playwright) is the author of Clybourne Park, which won the Olivier and Evening Standard Awards (London) for Best Play, 2010, as well as the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, 2011. Other plays include The Infidel (2000), Purple Heart (2002), We All Went Down to Amsterdam (2003), The Pain and the Itch (2004), The Unmentionables (2006) and A Parallelogram (2010), all of which had their premieres at Steppenwolf Theatre, Chicago. His newest play, Domesticated, will be produced by Lincoln Center Theater in 2013. His work has been seen at Playwrights Horizons (New York), Woolly Mammoth Theatre (Washington D.C.), Philadelphia Theatre Company, and Staatstheater Mainz (Germany), among others. He is also the 2009 recipient of the Steinberg Playwright Award.

STEPHANIE YANKWITT (Director) is a New York based Director, Casting Director, and Professor with NYU's Tisch School of the Arts at the Stella Adler Studio. Past directing projects include Gypsy, The Trip to Bountiful by Horton Foote, and Rounding Third by Richard Dresser, all at the Hangar, Our Lady of 121st Street by Stephen Adly Guirgis (North Carolina premiere), and the premieres of This Is A Cowboy Poem My Daddy Taught Me by Katie Bender (Abingdon Theatre Company/Cardinal Group Prods) and Letters To The End Of The World by Anton Dudley at Stella Adler Studio. In addition, Stephanie has served as Associate Director on Broadway of the World Premiere of November and the most recent revival of American Buffalo, both by David Mamet, The Receptionist by Adam Bock (MTC), and All That I Will Ever Be by Alan Ball (NYTW). Stephanie has directed multiple children's shows including the National Tour of Nate The Great for Theatreworks USA and If You Give a Mouse a Cookie for the Hangar Theatre's nationally recognized Theatre for Young Audience program called KIDDSTUFF. As a casting director, Stephanie has worked with Bernie Telsey & Tara Rubin in New York, and Francine Maisler in Los Angeles. Recent Broadway credits including The Heiress starring Jessica Chastain and David Straitharn, and revivals of Three Days of Rain and Glengarry Glen Ross. In addition to casting for the Hangar for the past five seasons, Stephanie has done work for Hartford Stage, Actors Theatre of Louisville, and most recently Yale Repertory Theatre, including the recent production of Hamlet starring Paul Giamatti. Her film credits include Birdman, directed by Academy Award nominee Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu and starring Michael Keaton, Naomi Watts, and Zach Galifianakis, as well as Across the Universe, Rent, Then She Found Me and Dan in Real Life. After five years, this will be Stephanie's last summer at the Hangar. Upcoming directing projects include Off-Broadway world premieres of two new plays in the fall. Stephanie sits on the advisory board of Paper Lantern Theatre Company, in Greensboro, NC.
