JULIE FEENEY

Wednesday, March 9 at 7:00 PM; $16

Award-winning composer, singer, orchestrator and producer of critically acclaimed albums, pages and 13 songs, Julie Feeney is a true artist with immense vision. Described in the Washington Post Express as "The Emerald Isle's Original", her unique innovative sound while rooted in classical music straddles the pop and theatrical worlds. Winner of the Choice Music Prize (Ireland's equivalent of the Mercury Music Prize) with her debut album ‘13 songs', she self produces her own work and has been invited to orchestrate and perform her own music for many orchestras. The Guardian has said that "the world will listen" and The Observer has called her "a major talent".

'Hot Press' loves her "mesmerizing stage presence and eccentric pop genius" and the Sunday Tribune has of her second album, "...a captivating form of art... pages is a remarkable achievement... Feeney towers over her contemporaries..."

JOSE CONDE

Wednesday, March 9 at 9:30 PM; $15

Trading the Cuban tres for a vintage Gretsch, Jose Conde's new music is a refined and personal blend clothed in electric and organic, funky world beats, inspired by trees, elephants, dogs, sexy dresses, and love. In a world music stretch with diverse influences and colors from South Africa to Brazil to Peru etc., with humor and rhythmic phrasing undeniably and soulfully Cuban, yet uniquely Conde, the music is delivered with booty shaking grooves by his new band, the nu Latin groove.

DREW CITRON

Thursday, March 10 at 6:30 PM; $10

Drew Citron has been at the singer/songwriter racket since birth - singing before she could read, playing piano before checkers, inventing melodies before cognizant thoughts. It is this fact, and her extremely artistic San Francisco upbringing that have allowed her to become the folk pop anomaly she is today. The daughter of a painter and a writer, she was encouraged to pursue creativity not as a whim or anecdote, but as an indispensable, core element to leading a worthwhile life.

Drew has a strong approach that blends soulful writing, innovative instrumentation, and sultry vocals of extraordinary power and, at the same time, vulnerability. Drawing inspiration from such titans as Joni Mitchell, Loretta Lynn, and Julie London, her work can cut to the core while appearing sweet and fleeting. A true child of the acoustic camp, Drew believes in the revelation of simplicity, poetry, and honest story-telling.

She has graced the stages of Joe's Pub, Rockwood Music Hall, National Underground, Lit Lounge, Bar Matchless, Public Assembly, Glasslands, Cameo Gallery, Pete's Candy Store, and The San Francisco Chamber Orchestra Society (singing inappropriate jazz standards in a 1995 talent competition). On the heels of a Southern tour last summer with her band Bone Sweet Bone, Drew won the prestigious songwriting competition (and the gas money to get home) at Eddie's Attic in Atlanta, GA.

HARPER BLYNN w/ special guest SCHUYLER FISK

Thursday, March 10 at 9:00 PM; $12

'If pop hooks were Monopoly money, this foursome would be buying hotels on Park Place by now.' - Time Out New York

Well, pop music has changed a bit since the time when it was just played on instruments by people. For Brooklyn based Harper Blynn, however, the live show is their lifeblood that both moves and entertains people. Yet, in addition to playing 150 shows last year, the band put out 2 records, the David Kahne produced "Loneliest Generation" as well as the self-produced "Harper Blynn EP." www.facebook.com/harperblynn

With her vibrant voice and honest songwriting, Schuyler Fisk (SKY-ler) draws legions of fans to her music, both onstage and online, where she enjoys an active grassroots following as one of the top indie artists on MySpace. Her anticipated debut album THE GOOD STUFF debuted on Billboard's Heatseekers Chart and at #1 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter Chart. Her single "Love Somebody" was released exclusively on iTunes with all proceeds benefiting the CASPCA. Schuyler has performed with artists including Sheryl Crow, Rachael Yamagata, Cary Brothers, Priscilla Ahn, and The Weepies. She has also played across North America with the Hotel Cafe tour, with fellow singer-songwriter, friend and collaborator, Joshua Radin, and most recently with Ben Taylor. Schuyler's next full-length album BLUE RIBBON WINNER will be released March 1, 2011. http://www.myspace.com/schuylerfisk

"a natural wonder" -Le Monde

"a valiant trailblazer" -JazzTimes

ETHAN LIPTON & HIS ORCHESTRA

Friday, March 11 at 9:00 PM; $15
"There's a singer in Brooklyn who seems to be loved by nearly everyone who hears him ... a singer with the cynicism and heart of Serge Gainsbourg and the observant mind of a standup comic" - PRI's The World

"Hilarious, twisted, sophisticated, schleppy and sad all at once...songs that take the mundane of life and twist it." - NPR's Weekend Edition

"Ethan Lipton is to lounge lizardry what Peter Sellers's Inspector Clouseau is to policing, presenting his singular, funny-miserable take on life via jazzy, brass-festooned songs. It's good stuff." - Time Out NY

Dubbed ‘Best Lounge Act of 2009' by New York Magazine, Ethan Lipton & His Orchestra play an edgy brand of jazz/folk/alternative nosh with a chewy singer-songwriter center. With melancholy wit and a cockeyed worldview, sepia-toned frontman Lipton and band mates Eben Levy (guitar), Ian Riggs (bass) and Vito Dieterle (sax) deliver songs steeped in mixed-message sincerity and soul. A staple at Joe's Pub, the band has also appeared at Celebrate Brooklyn, MASS MOCA, Bryant Park, the 92 Y Tribeca and venues throughout the Northeast, and has been featured on radio stations around the country.
