On August 24th at 6:30 p.m. EST, artists from television, Broadway, and the recording industry will come together to support LGBTQ youth in New York City. The event is officially titled "Express Yourself" and will take place at Rockwood Music Hall (Stage 2), located at 196 Allen St, New York, NY. All proceeds will be donated to the Arts & Culture Department of the Hetrick-Martin Institute, which specializes in "Empowerment, Education and Advocacy for LGBTQ Youth." Check out the event on their website HERE.

The evening's talented singers will perform songs by artists who personally inspired them to launch a career in the arts. Headlining performers include: Billy Lewis Jr (Glee), Samantha Marie Ware (Glee), Jaime Cepero (Smash), Gregory Haney (Bring It On, Broadway), Janine DiVita (The Mystery of Edwin Drood), David Perlman (Baby It's You), Lisa Ramey (SugarBad), dance-pop duo XELLE, and recording artist Samia XI.

"Express Yourself" is the brain child of Aussie drummer Simon Fishburn, who in the midst of New York's brutally long and cold winter just past, came across a Facebook post about the Hetrick-Martin Institute pantry wishlist winter appeal. Totally moved and inspired to want to contribute to the youth of his community (but not even having two pennies to rub together himself,) Simon, along with recording artist Samia XI, came up with the idea for this star studded, one-night-only concert to raise money for the LGBTQ youth of New York City.

The Arts & Culture programs offered by HMI fosters self-expression through dance, film, photography, painting, theater and more, to help kids reach their full potential in a safe and supportive environment. All proceeds from the concert will go to the Arts & Culture programs at HMI for the LGBTQ Youth that come through their doors seeking acceptance, love, food, clothing and a chance at life.
