25 Performers to Compete in Shana Farr Cabaret Competition, 5/3

Twenty five vocalists will perform and compete in the Annual Shana Farr Cabaret Competition to be held on Sunday, May 3rd on an outdoor stage at Broadway and 93rd Street.

The competition, which will run from 2 PM to 5PM, will be judged by a panel which includes Ms, Farr, a noted cabaret performer; Ms. Victoria Casella, an opera singer and actress; veteran entertainment publicist Les Schecter; and Mr. Lewis Ehlers, a talent manager with Lombardo Associates.

The competition is part of the 27th Annual Broadway Spring Festival which is sponsored by The Broadway Mall Center located at Broadway and 96th Street and founded 29 years ago as an arts and community center and as a home for the Auxiliary Police. According to Ms. Miriam Febus, president of the not for profit center, "It's a symbol of the unique vitality of the Upper West Side." It has served as a meeting place for dozens of nonprofit organizations and hosts monthly art exhibits.

The Festival runs from 86th to 93rd Streets from 11 AM to 5 PM. 200 crafts persons, antiques and collectible dealers will exhibit thousands of unique gift items perfect for Mother's Day gifts.

There will also be a wide array of food vendors and local restaurants representing the ethnic and international cuisine of over 16 countries.

In addition to the cabaret competition, Ms. Linda Miller (formerly of the Marvelettes) and "The Girls Next Door" will perform from 12 PM to 1:30 PM. The Festival is free and open to everyone. For further information please call 212-764-6330.
