TOP CHEF MEXICO to Take Viewers Through Hidalgo, Mexico, Today

NBC UNIVERSO, the modern entertainment and sports cable channel for Latinos, premieres the second episode of TOP CHEF MEXICO this Thursday, Feb. 25 at 9pm/8C. The 14 cheftestants participate in Quick-fire challenge where they must prepare dishes inspired by Mexican sayings. Chef Aquiles Chávez and host Ana Claudia Talancón get a taste of the culinary creations and evaluate the creativity, Mexican humor, wit and recipes of each participant.

Last week, Luck played a decisive factor in the elimination of Manuel Moralo and Sergio Howland when they pulled out the knives and were ousted of the competition.

This Thursday, the pressure heats up and alliances must be made when each cheftestant is forced to choose a teammate to cook traditional Mexican barbacoa. Left to the elements, each team must successfully take part in the laborious task of digging a hole in the ground, an essential part of making barbacoa, in order to slow cook a lamb for several hours until sunrise. Participants' physical condition, the cold weather and team dynamics all play a part in testing the competitors' resistance, resulting in the elimination of the weakest chef.

This week the guest judge who oversees the elaborate cooking process is local legendary chef, Moisés Rodríguez. Guillermo González Beristáin, Aquiles Chávez, Juantxo Sánchez give the final verdict on the flavor of the barbacoa, garnishes, and the tortillas.
