LENO, FALLON Lead Late Night Ratings for Week of 12/16

"The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and encore performances of "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" defeated their ABC and CBS timeslot competition in all key demos and total viewers for the week of Dec. 16-20.

"The Tonight Show" also improved versus its year-ago performance in the adults 18-49, 18-34 and 25-54 adult demos, as well as total viewers. "Late Night" saw an increase versus a year ago in the adults 18-49 and 18-34 demos.

"The Tonight Show" drew 4.34 million viewers for the week, outperforming "Late Show With David Letterman (3.06 million viewers) and "Jimmy Kimmel Live" (2.64 million). In viewers 18-49, "Tonight Show" (1.28 million viewers) was better than both "Late Show" (809,000) and "Jimmy Kimmel Live" (939,000).

It is Leno's top week in 18-49 viewers with no NFL lead-in since the week of Feb. 6-10, 2012 (1.307 million). It's also his top week in total viewers with no NFL lead-in since March 22-26, 2010 (4.374 million).

"Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" drew 1.97 million viewers in encore telecasts, which was higher than originals of both "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.51 million) and "Nightline" (1.62 million). "Late Night" was also best in 18-49 and 18-34 viewers.

It's Fallon's top week in 18-49 viewers (783,000) with no NFL lead-in since Nov. 4-8, 2013 (799,000) and his top week in total viewers with no NFL lead-in since Dec. 17-21, 2012 (2.029 million).

1:35 a.m. ET, encore telecasts of "Last Call with Carson Daly" drew 1.05 million total viewers and 482,000 viewers in the 18-49 demo. Both were increases from a year ago.

"The Tonight Show" has now delivered bigger 18-49 audiences than "Late Show with David Letterman" for the last 57 weeks in a row and topped "Jimmy Kimmel Live" for 46 of their 50 head-to-head weeks. In total viewers, Leno has outdelivered "Late Show" for 61 weeks in a row and "Kimmel" for 50 of 50 weeks.

Fallon has now generated bigger 18-49 audiences than "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" for 62 of the last 63 weeks and prevailed in total viewers for 59 of the last 61 weeks. Versus "Nightline" in their head-to-head half-hour, Fallon has outdelivered the ABC series for 50 of 50 weeks in viewers 18-49 and 45 of 47 weeks in total viewers.
