‎"Late Night with Seth Meyers" will broadcast live at 12:35 a.m. ET/PT the evening of Thursday, July 21 from Studio 8G in Rockefeller Center, the same night as the final session of the Republican National Convention from Cleveland that will include the acceptance speech from the party's presumptive presidential nominee, Donald Trump.

In a phone interview with The New York Times Meyers commented, "We try really hard for the first act of our show to be about the previous night's and that day's news."We saw this as an opportunity to get there as early as possible."

He continued, "Now, there are so many people doing really good political commentary that the reality is, by the following night, it might feel a little warmed-over. We realized the importance of putting a stake in the ground as early possible."
