After 25 years, Judd Apatow's dream is finally coming true.

Back in the '90s, the GIRLS executive producer wrote a script for an episode of THE SIMPSONS when only six episodes had aired. This season, a version of it will finally be aired. The script revolved around the idea of not growing up. In the episode, a hypnotized Homer believes himself to be 10 years old and then decides he does not want to return to being an adult.

Apatow attributes his writing concepts as evolving from that original script. "I've always been fascinated with how difficult it is to grow up," he said in an interview with TV guide.

Entitled "Bart's New Friend," the episode was not all that he remembered. "It's a pretty rough script - when I reread it I wasn't exactly glowing with pride," Apatow said. Following a table read, THE SIMPSONS team touched it up. "Putting their brilliant spin on something I wrote back when I was a dreamer, was one of the greatest days of my life. These are legends!"

The episode will air on January 11 at 8/7c on Fox.

THE SIMPSONS is an American adult animated sitcom created by Matt Groening for the FOX Broadcasting Company. The series is a satirical depiction of a middle class American lifestyle epitomized by the Simpson family, which consists of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. The show is set in the fictional town of Springfield and parodies American culture, society, television, and many aspects of the human condition.
